Legal Resource Centre

During the course of our advocacy and legal intervention in the atrocity cases against the Dalits, Adivasis and women in Rajasthan, we have observed that the complainants and petitioners have to face serious adversities, complexities and hindrances in attaining the justice and relief in the courts. The reason behind it is that the Dalits and Adivasis have little access to the resources with no approach to the high level authorities, illiteracy and poverty. Our judicial system is complex, delaying and expensive which lead to the delay in justice and justice denial to the poor, underprivileged and weaker sections of the society more particularly to the Dalit and Adivasi women. In the darkness of illiteracy and unawareness, the Dalit and Adivasi victims are unable to acquire the assistance of already existing provisions of Legal Service Authorities and get trapped into the tactics of some greedy, money maker, anti social advocates and they are compelled to lose their money, time, hope, justice and peace of mind. 

Keeping these complexities in the mind, Centre for Dalit Rights, Jaipur and National Dalit Movement for Justice are planning to establish a "Legal Resource Centre" at Centre for Dalit Rights, Jaipur. The objective of the Centre will be to provide the legal support, assistance and counseling to the Dalit and Adivasi victims and witnesses, to provide them free legal aid through Legal Service Authorities in the cases of atrocity.
